Acknowledgments

I, the undersigned, wish to participate in the horseback riding, lessons, camps, parties, and other activities (from now on referred to as “the Activities”) offered by La Fleur Stables LLC, Madison Riding Academy, Neva La Fleur, Marlene & Dan La Fleur, and their instructors. I acknowledge and understand that horse use, boarding, handling, training, and riding involve inherent risks of injury to myself, my horse, and my property.

I understand that regardless of training or past behavior, horses may act unpredictably at any time. With this knowledge, I voluntarily choose to participate in the Activities and accept any risks of injury or damage.

In consideration of my participation in the Activities, I agree to the following terms and conditions:

1. Warranties and Representations

1.1 I warrant that I am physically and mentally fit to participate in horseback riding and related activities. I am in good health and free from any injury, illness, or condition that could impair my ability to engage in the activities.

1.2 I acknowledge the risk of tetanus infection associated with livestock and agree to take responsibility for obtaining and maintaining appropriate vaccinations.

1.3 If I bring my horse or use a horse owned by an acquaintance (not owned by La Fleur Stables LLC or Madison Riding Academy), I warrant that the horse is healthy and has the proper temperament for participation in the Activities.

2. Release of Liability

I, on behalf of myself, my heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns, at this moment release and forever discharge La Fleur Stables LLC, Madison Riding Academy, Neva La Fleur, Marlene & Dan La Fleur, their landlords, successors, and assigns (collectively, the “Releasees”) from any liability for any loss, injury, damage, or death that may occur as a result of my participation in the Activities. This release applies whether the injury is caused by the negligence of the Releasees or otherwise.

3. Intent

This release is intended to be as broad as legally permitted. It applies to all losses or injuries that arise during my participation in the Activities, whether caused by a horse, other animals, equipment, third parties, natural causes, or a combination thereof.

4. Indemnity

I agree to indemnify and hold the Releasees harmless from any claims, damages, expenses, or liabilities resulting from my actions or those of my horse or property while engaged in the Activities.

5. Miscellaneous

5.1 This agreement is binding on my heirs, successors, and assigns.

5.2 This agreement shall be governed by and construed under the laws of the State of Wisconsin.

6. Wisconsin Equine Liability Notice

By Section 895.481(1)(e) of the Wisconsin Statutes, I understand that a person engaged in equine activities is not liable for injury or death resulting from the inherent risks of equine activities.

7. Parental Consent (if applicable)

If the participant is a minor, I, as the parent or guardian, consent to this release on behalf of the minor and myself. I agree to be bound by this release to the same extent as the minor.

Cancellations and Missed Sessions

• No missed or make-up sessions will be provided.
• Cancellations require 24 hours' notice. Failure to cancel within 24 hours will result in forfeiture of the horse program and fees paid. No refunds or credits will be given for failing to cancel or complete a session.
• Attendance is critical as each lesson builds on the previous one. Missing a session significantly hinders progress. If you miss a class, please talk to your instructor.
• No refunds will be issued.

La Fleur Stables will follow the city's protocols if the City of Madison declares a Snow Emergency or other health mandates.

If you have concerns or personalized questions, please speak to an instructor privately. We will work to address any issues.

SAFETY CENTER: 

I have read and understood the Safety Center regarding Horse Lover’s Rules, Family, Property, Stables, and Programs.

• Cell phones are prohibited in the stables unless authorized by the owner or instructor. Please leave phones in your car or check them at the stable store. This policy ensures the safety of all riders and horses.

Consent to Use of Emails/Videos/Photos: 

I understand that my/my minor’s picture may be taken or filmed while participating in activities or representing the stables at events.
I grant La Fleur Stables, its owners, trainers, instructors, employees, agents, and photographers the right to take, use, publish, and copyright photos/videos of me/my minor for promotional purposes. This includes use in press releases, advertisements, publications, and social media sites maintained by La Fleur Stables.

I release La Fleur Stables and its representatives from any claims arising from using these images/videos.

Helmet Opt-Out for Riders over 18: 

• ASTM/SEI-certified helmets are mandatory for all riders under 17 unless explicitly waived.
• I acknowledge the risks of not wearing a helmet and voluntarily choose not to wear one, assuming any additional associated risks, as I am over 18.

Protective Headgear Offering:

I/WE request protective headgear, which the instructor provides for rental; the four-time program fee is $30.00. 

I understand that wearing a helmet while mounting, riding, or being near horses can reduce the severity of head injuries or prevent death.

Minors must wear protective headgear.
I/WE will provide MY/OUR headgear and accept full responsibility for MY/OUR safety in this decision.

What to wear!

• Long pants and closed-toe shoes are required for riding. 
• Avoid white or light-colored clothing, as this is a working stable.
• Refunds will only be issued for incorrect attire.

Medical Authorization: 

I permit La Fleur Stables staff to seek emergency medical treatment for me/my minor if a parent/guardian cannot be reached. I agree to be financially responsible for any emergency medical services incurred.

I acknowledge the risk of exposure to tetanus in the presence of livestock and accept responsibility for obtaining and maintaining vaccination against tetanus.

What to brush up on before you come! 

Program Participation

Select the programs you are participating in:

• Private Riding Lessons
• Semi-Private Lessons
• Grooming Classes
• Six-Week Orientation to Horses Course
• Horse Day Camps (Deposit: $400 per week)

TIPPING THE TEAM: Tips are appreciated by the staff.

Session Changes and Cancellations:

A two-week notice is required to cancel any Horse Program. (Accepted via fax, email, or handwritten notice). Failure to provide written notice will result in liability for all fees.

Families may add or change horse program sessions until Wednesday before the scheduled session begins.

Refunds are not available for missed days or sessions.

Nature of Stable Horses:

Despite rigorous safety measures, I understand that no horse is entirely safe. Horses are more significant, stronger, and faster than humans, and there is always an inherent risk when riding or handling them. Horses can act according to their instincts, which may result in unpredictable behavior.

Food and Snacks:

Horse Lovers attending all-day programs must bring lunch. A refrigerator is available for use, and water bottles are encouraged.

You can also sponsor a lunch for the stable team by arranging delivery.

Confirmation:

You will receive a confirmation letter (via email unless otherwise specified), including a list of items to bring and a detailed agenda.

Note: The stables have horses, dogs, and cats. Please inform the instructor if you or your minor have allergies or require special attention.
