"Horse Programs Events are our Passion, and Passion leads to making YOUR dreams come
Signed in as:
Dan and Marlene La Fleur established La Fleur Stables in 1965. Since then, we have focused on contributing to the horse world with boarding, training, competing, buying, selling, associations, and programs.
We will work to ensure each rider/owner develops self-awareness, independence, confidence, and creativity through riding and caring for the horses. We welcome horse lovers, families, youth, adults, and investors to our 15 rolling acres filled with horses, colors, and personalities.
They were born and raised in Stoughton, WI. This dynamic duo bought their first horse farm on Highway 138 between Stoughton and Oregon; Marlene had horses growing up and, as a young woman, had shown Quarter Horses exclusively with her father, Arnold Anderson. At that time, a customer sent “Mr. Sandman,” an American Saddlebred, to Marlene for training. That is where her love for Saddlebreds began. Dan and Marlene have devoted their lives to American Saddlebreds, although Dan has become a stock and commodities broker. Dan and Marlene have three grown children: a son, a daughter, and Neva. All three children have always been involved with La Fleur Stables; however, Neva has taken on the family business, training the horses and instructing the riding lessons.
In the early years, La Fleur Stables introduced and competed with many breeds of horses throughout the Midwest. In the late 70s, Dan and Marlene relocated the stable to a more complete and elaborate horse facility in Fond du Lac, WI. After this move, they decided to specialize in training American Saddlebreds; during their time in Fond du Lac, Dan and Marlene successfully trained, bred, and competed with 80 horses. Marlene taught the basics of riding at several schools in Wisconsin, reaching out to people of all ages and riding disciplines. Dan and Marlene aimed to teach numerous people how to ride and pass on the importance of respecting and appreciating horses.
The two have always been active and involved with state and national Associations; they’ve served on boards and as officers. Dan and Marlene remain active in the horse show business and can regularly be found around the stables.
The fourth generation of La Fleur horse enthusiasts includes seven grandchildren who compete in horse shows and activities at the stables.
Marlene was able to build state-of-the-art Stables with accommodation all year around. The acres are in the heart of Dane County. We hope to provide a facility that exceeds the expectations of even the most discerning eye. Marlene designed the beautiful new horse barn and riding arena; the facility is a millennium barn with all the latest technology and conveniences. Although it’s not the technology that makes the barn what it is, the barn would not be complete without the talented and beautiful show-horses owned by horse lovers, some of whom are extended family members. The current facility allows LaFleur Stables to offer Horse activities. We have staff who provide the very best Horse knowledge.
We want to announce Dan & Marlene will retire from La Fleur Stables at the end of the year, and Neva will be doing the horse operations full-time.
