Horse Programs, like other sports, have a “uniform.” This is not for appearance or a fashion show but for the rider's safety. Dress according to the weather.
All riders of any age must wear an ASTM-approved helmet with a safety harness intact and adequately secured when mounted. Helmets are designed to protect the rider’s head in the event of falls from a horse. WE RENT Helmets at the Stables. $10 one time or $30 for four times of riding.
Make sure the expiration date is updated.
No helmet can protect against every head injury. However, studies show a dramatic reduction in the severity of injuries when an adequately fitted helmet is worn every time you ride a horse. Replace your helmet every five years or immediately after a direct impact from a fall.
Defines protective headgear. It states that "anyone mounted on a horse at any time. The harness must be secured and properly fitted. Any rider violating this rule must immediately be prohibited from further riding until the headgear is properly placed.”
What is "improperly" fitted headgear? If a helmet is moving around or falling over the eyes, it is improperly fitted. Importantly, it is improperly secured if the chinstrap of the harness is hanging down with clear "daylight" between the strap and the chin. A properly fitted harness must not be able to slide forward around the chin. A rule of thumb is, at most, two fingers fit between the skin and harness below the chin. If the harness becomes unfastened during riding, please stop the rider immediately.
Stable Shirt well fitted, slim fit, or shirt tucked in if at all baggy. This is important to allow your instructor to see ALL of your body! Did you know a HUGE part of your riding strength comes from your Core? Be sure your instructor can see your core to help you.

The Jodhpur boot is an ankle boot designed as a riding boot with a rounded toe and a low heel. Footwear includes boots at or above ankle height, with stiff soles and a different heel that can help prevent the foot from slipping through the stirrup. This combination provides the most protection and support and gives the foot proper placement in the stirrup. Tennis shoes are OK, but NO moccasins, sandals, flip-flops, clogs, fashion boots, cowboy boots, and similar soft footwear are not allowed anytime anyone is handling or riding a horse.
Pants Jodhpurs — While you can ride in jeans, you will find that the inside seam will start to rub on your leg. Jodhpurs (English riding pants) help with correct form and have a knee patch. They help rather than hinder the rider’s efforts and improve the ability to remain balanced. Jodhpurs well-fitted, dark-colored boot-cut riding pants

They help rather than hinder the rider’s efforts and improve the ability to remain balanced. Jodhpurs well-fitted, dark-colored boot-cut riding pants are preferred. Pants must be long enough to cover the leg down to the ankle. No shorts or capris are allowed!
Keepers are at the bottom of the jobs. Keepers are REQUIRED if you have boot-cut riding pants. They create a nice finished look and keep the pants from riding up and allowing for chafing from the saddle/stirrup leather.
NO jewelry such as dangly earrings and necklaces. These can become hung up on the saddle and cause the rider injury. If you must wear a medical alert bracelet, please ensure it fits snugly.
Loose long Hair should be pulled back for EVERY lesson. Not only is this neater and safer, and it helps your helmet be fitted just for your head! Don't worry. We always have extra (new) hair ties in the stable store!
Leather (synthetic or genuine leather) Riding gloves - REQUIRED for all riders when the day's high temperature is below 50 degrees and recommended for ALL riders. Our most experienced riders will have a pair of winter riding gloves and warm-weather riding gloves. Gloves are advised to save wear and tear on your hands. Gloves help with holding the reins in the right place.
Stable Gear; online or at the stable store Shirts Logo Shirts and sweatshirt small - Medium - Large - X Large
The length of a crop is designed to allow enough leverage for it to be accelerated rapidly with a controlled flick of the wrist without causing the rider balancing problems.
Help to push a horse. Rowel Spurs or Blunt spurs. Optional. Don't forget to get the straps.
Using the appropriate equipment shows respect for the sport and pride in your appearance. We expect all riders to come prepared with the correct attire every time they ride. The links on this page will help you to order the right dress.
