Virtual Horse Services

Virtual Horse Show information and assigned patterns will be released on the 1st Monday of each month.

Riders will have approximately two weeks to practice, prepare, and record their videos.

Entries and videos are due by the 3rd Sunday of each month at 8:00 pm.

Results and critiques will be completed by the morning of the following Thursday.

Patterns will be posted ahead of time so riders have time to practice, prepare, and feel confident before submitting their videos.

Riders must wear:

• Light Jodhpurs (gray/tan)
• Light Riding Gloves (white/tan/gray)
• White Collared Shirt (short or long sleeve)
• Belt
• Boots
• Good Luck - Socks
• Keepers
• Whip
• ASTM/SEI Approved Equine Helmet
• Winter — Fitted Vest (Light color)

Helmets are required for riders 17 and under.

White attire helps the judge clearly see:

• Hand position
• Rein contact
• Rider posture
• Leg placement
• Overall equitation

It allows your position and aids to show up well on video for accurate judging and critique.

Additional Recommendations

• Clean, conservative riding attire
• Proper discipline-appropriate tack and equipment
• Boots suitable for riding
• Hair neatly secured

Results and critiques will be sent within 86 hours after the competition closes.

Placings will be awarded from 1st through 6th place in each class.

First-place winners may receive either:

• A certificate award
• A ribbon

Points will accumulate throughout the show season and count toward Year-End Awards.

If you do not wish to receive a ribbon, please mark this on your entry form. Instead, you may receive a certificate or year-end award credit toward a horse-related item.

• Junior Membership, 17 & Under $20
• Adult Membership, 18 & Over $20

• Business Membership $50

Business Membership:
Recommended for stables, barns, or lesson programs with more than 3 riders participating. 

Membership may include:

• Rider enrollment
• Horse enrollment
• Eligibility for member discounts
• Eligibility to earn points toward Year-End Awards

All riders and horses must be properly enrolled before points can count toward Year-End Awards.

Patterns and classes will be judged on the overall performance of the horse and rider.

Judging may include:

• Accuracy of the pattern
• Rider position and control
• Horse manners and suitability
• Overall presentation
• Equitation
• Smooth transitions
• Confidence and polish

Virtual Horse Services is designed to be a fun, educational way for riders to receive feedback, stay motivated, and continue improving with their horse.

Show Management reserves the right to change officials at any time and may refuse entries from any exhibitor not in good standing with VHS.

The judge’s decision is final.

All classes will be regulated according to VHS safety rules and guidelines.

Virtual Horse Services offers sponsorship opportunities for individuals, families, businesses, barns, and supporters who would like to be featured on the website.

Sponsor a class for $15 and help support awards, ribbons, certificates, and the continued growth of Virtual Horse Services.

A website banner sponsorship is $60 and runs from January 1 through December 1.

Banner sponsors will have their banner displayed on the Virtual Horse Services website during the membership year.

To be included for the upcoming show year, sponsors are encouraged to submit their information by December.

Academy Division

Academy classes are open to riders presently enrolled in a professionally operated lesson program. Academy riders must be mounted on school horses.

Green Rider Division

A Green Rider is defined as an academy rider in their first calendar year of showing. Riders showing in Green Rider classes may not cross-enter into regular academy classes at the same show.

Limit Rider Division

A Limit Rider is defined as an academy rider who has not won 6 blue ribbons through Virtual Horse Services in their respective academy division.

This includes:

• Walk/Trot
• Walk/Trot/Canter

Riders showing in Limit Rider classes may not cross-enter into regular academy classes at the same show.

Horsemanship Division

Horsemanship classes are judged on the horse’s manners, suitability, and overall presentation.

Horsemanship is the main focus. Diagonals will not count.

The overall appearance of the pleasure horse should show a horse that enjoys its job and is suitable for the rider.

Walk/Trot Riders

Walk/Trot riders may only enter:

• Walk/Trot Equitation
• Walk/Trot Pleasure
• Walk/Trot Horsemanship

Walk/Trot/Canter Riders

Walk/Trot/Canter riders may only enter:

• Walk/Trot/Canter Equitation
• Walk/Trot/Canter Pleasure
• Walk/Trot/Canter Horsemanship

Riders entered in Green Rider or Limit Rider classes may only enter classes within that division. Riders may not cross-enter.

Pattern Classes

Pattern classes do not include rail work.

Pattern classes are judged on:

• Rider’s ability to control the horse
• Accuracy of the pattern
• Rider’s equitation
• Overall presentation

Horses may be shared.

No backing will be required in the pattern.

Academy Driving

Academy Driving is a Pleasure Driving class where entries are judged primarily on the driver’s ability and skill in managing the horse or pony.

Entries should be shown both ways of the ring at:

• Walk
• Trot

Manners of the horse or pony will be judged.

For safety, drivers are encouraged to have an instructor or qualified adult in the cart.

Recording and submitting is easy!

Step 1 — Record Your Ride

• Film your assigned pattern (4 minutes or less)
• Use good lighting
• Make sure horse and rider stay in full view
• Landscape/horizontal video preferred
• Have someone hold the camera steady if possible

Step 2 — Save Your Video

Label your video:
Rider Name_Horse Name_Class Name
Example: JaneSmith_Blue_WTEquitation

Step 3 — Submit Your Video

Send your video one of these ways:

Email (small files):
Email directly to

Large video files:
Use one of these free options:

• Google Drive (share link)
• Dropbox
• WeTransfer

• • iPhone users can use iCloud link sharing

Step 4 — In Your Email Include:

• Rider Name
• Horse Name
• Class Entered
• Age Division
• Your video link or attached video

Subject line:
Virtual Horse Show Entry — [Your Name]

Helpful Tip

If your video runs longer than 4 minutes, trim it on your phone before sending.

📱 On iPhone: Open Photos → Edit → Trim
📱 On Android: Open Gallery → Edit → Trim

Entries must be received by the show closing date.

Simple. Film it. Send it. Show from home.

You could even allow YouTube unlisted links too if you want very easy submissions.

Video Tip

Avoid dark clothing, busy prints, or colors that blend into your horse or arena background.
Contrast helps us see you best.
